Chantal Fortin is a Search Angel. Chantal is a Québécoise, or a native of Quebec, Canada. She is a palliative care nurse during the day and a search angel in the evenings She became interested in genealogy because she was convinced that she was adopted. She felt like she didn’t resemble either of her parents, so she was sure would find something by searching her Mother’s desk. When she was about seven, she found the paperwork in her Mother’s desk indicating that she was adopted – but it wasn’t what she thought. Her mother was her biological mother but her Father adopted her as a child. Her mother took her to a restaurant where she met her biological father as a teenager, but she didn’t really have a relationship with him or her three siblings on her paternal side until after she turned 18.
Chantal currently lives in Ottawa, Ontario, with her partner and they have 4 children they raised together. Her passion is traveling – she has been to over 70 countries! She speaks five languages, French being her native language. She studied nursing at King’s College in London, which was founded in 1829. When she isn’t traveling or working on a client’s family tree, she loves painting, gardening, kayaking, snowshoeing, and dog sledding. She’s been known to take her dogs out, build a quinzhee, which is a shelter built out of snow, and spend the night before returning back home!
