Julie serves on DNAngels’ board as Historian. Her love of data and reporting was born more than 25 years ago when she did environmental compliance reporting for dozens of clients as an environmental engineering consultant. Julie was so excited about the story that data could tell that she pursued a computer science degree, focusing on database theory. Since then, she’s been an application developer, database administrator, and report writer, and even had a position that produced genealogical reports for endangered species, now used by population biologists all over the world.
Julie’s interest in genealogy goes back 20 years, when she started building family trees for her adoptive family. With the advent of DNA testing, Julie would build out family trees in hopes of locating her birth parents. Another adopted relative used DNAngels to locate their birth family and suggested that she take the plunge. DNAngels helped Julie to find her birth mother’s contact information and also located her birth father.
Julie enjoys reading, travel, her dogs and working on art in her spare time. She has been a volunteer literacy tutor and teacher since 1989. She is proud to assist an organization that puts so much love and effort into helping to bring others their truth. She looks forward to using the data to tell a story that enables DNAngels to help more clients find their truth.
